Gato

There is a 13 year old cat that lives in my house. She has imprinted on me and I call her mine now. She is a pain in my ass. After she passes, there will be no new animals, cause, allergies. Her name is Dusk. She is a tuxedo kitty.

When I first moved back to my dad's, I forgot he still had her and was surprised she was still alive. She may out live me, honestly. She wouldn't allow me to touch her or come near her for about 18 months. Until I started to feed/water and give her treats, she kept to herself. Hissing and growling and swatting. I obviously had no intentions or care for her.

But domesticated cats are social creatures, too. She hated other animals when we would dogsit for family friends, or saw the neighborhood cats/stray animal out the front door. She hated me and anyone who came into the house. She especially loathed children. (and still does) She had no friends, no wonder she was so grumpy.

I wasn't especially fond of her when we got her when I was a teen either. I think it was my brother who initially wanted her. My sister likes cats, and has one named Prue. She is still alive and lives with her. But when we were young we lived back and forth from our parents homes every other month. We didn't take the cat back and forth though. And so for a while the cat was at my dad's, and then it moved to my mothers, and then when my sister moved out, she took the cat. That is when we got Dusk. I call her: cat, baby, and kitty. First names are for when she's being a bitch. Which is quiet often.

Is this post suppose to have something meaningful to it? Not really. Just an excuse to document and post a lot of photos of my cat? Yup.

Cat nip makes her sound like she is in heat, though she was fixed when she was small. She has become a loud cat and talks and talks and talks. It's not a soft meow. its more like... "LISTEN TO ME RAWR!"

She likes my soft, fuzzy, blankets, but I'm allergic to her and if she has recently cleaned herself and finds my blankets, I break out in an itchy rash. The protein in a cat's saliva is what most people are allergic to. And because they clean themselves, rub up against and lay on everything, I've had to be a neat freak when cleaning, dusting, vacuuming the house. She isn't allowed in my room; the door always stays closed, and I Have an air purifier running at all times to help with my asthma.

Dusk likes when I do yoga, oddly enough. She is a sensitive cat and can feel my emotions, and when I'm happy she likes to be there, and when I'm sad she likes to be there.

She doesn't like the outside. The longest she has ever been outside was one night when we took in groceries and left the door open. She had managed to get outside, probably chewing on some grass, and we closed the door and went to bed. We had heard meowing and we couldn't find it. I finally opened the door because I thought I was going crazy that I heard her outside. She was wide-eyed, upset and staring at me under my dad's truck in the driveway. She ran inside and didn't talk to us for days. She does not like outside beyond a fresh air sniff and a run back inside.

Otherwise, she is a typical cat. Nothing special about her. She got fleas randomly even though she never goes outside. We think it was because our yard has never been treated and the bugs have always been bad from the marshy land we are on. Between star gazing on blankets and mowing the lawn with sneakers on and bringing them both inside, it only takes one flea to start that mess. And ugh it took two summers to fully rid her of them. Even though they went dormant in the winter.

When we bombed the house for fleas, I'd first bath her. Which she hates. She sounds like I'm trying to kill her. Gosh she hates baths. But she smells good and clean and her skin felt better for it. We don't have a cat carrier, and so I'd have to take her in my car with me as the house fumigated and we ran errands together in my car. She also is not very fond of car rides. Ha. The lady at the Chick Fila laughed that she was staring out the back window through the drive through when I went for lunch.

She looks harmless, but I promise she is evil.

Fresh after a bath, fluffy

This is how she usually appears with her reptilian eyes.
I believe she was sick here with a skin infection. looking sad needing cuddles.
